Uhuru to meet with NEP leaders to address education crisis.

North Eastern leaders are expected to meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the education crisis in the region.

Attending a meeting convened by Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane , the leaders resolved to present a memorandum containing several keys issues that needs to be addressed among them education crisis and insecurity so as to have an amicable solution.

Northern counties of Wajir, Mandera and Garissa have been widely affected by the mass exodus of teachers after Teachers Service Commission (TSC) transferred non- locals teachers, arguing that the region is not safe.

In Wajir alone , 80 schools ( Primary and Secondary) closed and 800 teachers fled, a move that has jeopardized the education sector in Northern kenya .

Part of the memorandum also include the tarmacing of Isiolo- Modogashe road- Habaswein- Wajir and Mandera highway , a project funded by the Kenyan government and the World bank .
