Eldas MP rejects census result, says no community should live at the mercy of another

No community will live at the mercy of another, Eldas Member of Parliament Adan keynan has said, referring to the recently-released population census result which sections of Kenyan communities have widely rejected.

Speaking during a tree planting exercise in Eldas town, Keynan faulted the census result, saying it was fake and the results did not add up.

“Is it possible for Balambala to have 32,000 people and 24,000 registered voters?”  He posed question.

The result released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics is there for rejection, he said

“We will challenge the result and demonstrate what they did was fake and does not represent the face of kenya.”

The MP insisted that no one community is more kenyan than another, and as a leader from Northeastern region, he will not accept what he termed as the “classification” of Kenyans into first and second class citizens .

“As an experienced leader elected from North eastern, I will spearhead the process of rejecting the 2019 cencus,” Keynan further said.

“No one was invited to be a kenyan , Somalis are protected by the flag of the Republic of Kenya.”

Keynan said that Somalis in Kenya have been so long subjected to different forms of marginalisation and will protect their people to avoid the recurrence of the same.

“We have a long history, we were called Shifta and denied development and we will not allow our people to be mistreated again,” the Eldas lawmaker said.

The MP also assured his people that the outcome of Census will have no effect on Eldas in case of a boundary review. Eldas registered a total 88,000 people. The constituency, the MP said, is among the those identified as a ‘cross cutting administrative unit’ and will not be affected by any boundary review.
