
Wajir has confirmed another coronavirus positive case bringing the total to two in the last 24 hours.
Addressing journalist at Wajir referral hospital, Wajir county Executive Mr. Ismail Isaack has confirmed the case saying that the victim is among the four traders who were earlier this week intercepted at Diif in Wajir South sub-county.
“We have registered the second case, a 32-year old male from Garissa,” said Mr. Mr. Issack.
On Thursday, the county registered its first Coronavirus case.
The county executive said the patient turned positive after samples were tested at the regional laboratory.
He is asymptomatic and in stable condition.
The health official said that they have also intercepted four more people who recently travelled to Somalia for trading purpose and are currently quarantined at Wajir KMTC facility.
“We have intercepted another four at Riba, Wajir East and are currently quarantined as we wait for their test result,” added Mr. Isaack.
The health department officials have set a base at Diif and Dadajabula and have began screening, fumigation and contact tracing in order to identify contacts of those who tested positive to the disease.
The county health CEC has urged members of public to adhere to the ministries guidelines in order to curb the spread of the virus.
