Two kidnapped from Garissa by suspected Al-Shabab militia while transporting miraa to liboi rescued

Abdi Hassan( ilkaase) and Abdullahi Issack Harun who were carjacked on 26th of December , thursday evening while on their way to Liboi town in Garissa County were finally rescued.

Police officers in Garissa County have confirmed the rescue mission of the two abducted individuals who they say are healthy and in stable condition.

Police report released on Sunday revealed, the two despite the fatigue were recovered while unharmed and healthy.

“This is to confirm that the following Abdullahi Issack Harun and Abdihassan (Ilkaase) who had boarded Land Cruiser KCM 446R which was hijacked by suspected members of al-Shabaab group have been traced and arrived in the station today 29/12/2019 while inl good health though they appeared tired,” read part of the report.

The security officers also revealed that the two were abducted by atleast 20 members of Al-shabaab but only 3 accompanied them and taken to a place called Bagdad.

“They were handed bags and what looked like walkie-talkie radio or GPRS and only three of the al-Shabaab militia proceed with the captives to Somalia at a place called Bagdad, 60Kms from Hosingo to the east where they have established a camp and hosted black flag,” added the report.

Weeks ago, four people have been abducted by Somalia’s militia group Al- shabab at Konton location, Wajir East Constituency, Wajir County while they were on road construction site. Reports revealed they were taken to unknown destination in Somalia.

Through the report, the security officers have asked the communities living around Liboi to be vigilant saying that 15 members of the terror group are still manoeuvring around.

“It is evident that the rest who were more than 15 al-Shabaab remained within Liboi, Walburat and Daddquran dam and are planning to plant Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) attack on police camps, lay ambush to police vehicle, attack non-locals travelling by buses”
