NEP youth fault leaders proposals, threaten to disrupt the impending BBI rally in Garissa

Youth from North Eastern have come out guns blazing after a list of proposals made by their leaders leaked to the public.

The furious youth have criticized the proposals widely saying that it contains not the interest of the people of North Eastern but the interest of leaders whose term limits is about to end and don’t want to retire from politics.

“they drafted proposals that suits their interests not the interest of the region, we will say no to them.” Said Noor Gedi, an activist.

North Eastern Leaders held a meeting in Nairobi last Friday to come up with a list of proposals that may address the problem of NEP region if captured in the BBI report.

Among the many things discussed, the leaders majorly tackled on 2019 NEP census results that they believe it was manipulated.

The youth have now faulted leaders for ignoring pressing matters that is of beneficial to the people of North Eastern and instead focused on the weaker part of it.

” the leaders have discussed many issues but ignored the major ones, they have never talked about unemployment among the youths, extrajudicial killings, selective vetting in ID and passport process, recurring mass exodus of teachers, implementation of TJRC reports among others” read a tweet from one of the youths.

NEP youth now want their views be considered and included in the list of proposals saying that they understand their problems and the dynamics of the region better than the leaders, else they will force themselves in.

” we want our views be considered and captured in the resolutions, we also want the youth be given a chance to talk for themselves in the forthcoming BBI rally” said Osman Shire, a youth leader.

The Friday meeting held by North Eastern leaders is in line with the upcoming BBI rally which is scheduled on Sunday 9th February, 2020 in Garissa county.
