NEP among counties to experience dry and sunny weather in January – weatherman

The Kenya meteorological department announced that there will be rise of temperatures in some parts of the country in the first week of january.

According to statement from meteorological department, counties like Wajir and Mandera will experience high temperatures of up to 35 degrees. Nairobi and Marsabit county will also be affected and their temperatures is expected to rise up to 26 and 35 degrees respectively.

Other Counties expected to experience high temperatures as listed in the statement include Turkana, Samburu and West pokot with 36 degrees.

The weatherman also predicted light rains in some of the Counties like Taitataveta, Kajiado, machakos, makueni and kitui.

Kenya meteorologist also revealed that there will be light showers with thunderstorms in parts like Nandi, Kisumu, Homabay and Siaya Counties in the first five days of January.

The statement also showed Coast Counties like Mombasa, kwale, kilifi , Tana river and Lamu will be cloudy with temperatures of between 25° C to 33° C.

However, the weatherman noted that Northern Region of Wajir, Mandera, Garissa and Isiolo will also have occasional moderate rainfall during the beginning of the month though sunny and dry conditions is expected to prevail in the course of the month.

The weatherman also added that the light rains expected in some parts of the country will be relatively high than the amounts received in the past January.

“The rainfall is likely to be higher than the long-term average amounts received during the same month in other years.” Weatherman said in a statement.
