
MOGADISHO, Somalia- A military plane belonging to Turkish government has on tuesday airlifted victims who were badly injured in a truck bombing that killed 4 people and left several injured in Mogadishu on saturday.
According to Turkey’s Ministry of National Defense, the military plane carrying victims who were badly wounded left for Ankara from Mogadishu Airport on Tuesday.
” The Air Force aircraft carrying our Turkish citizens and Somali brothers wounded in the terror attack in somali has departed from Mogadishu for Ankara” the Ministry wrote on Twitter.
Turkish Embassy have also confirmed that they have airlifted on Tuesday, 9 people including 3 Turkish engineers who were wounded in Alshabab bomb attack last week.
Saturday’s suicide car bombing by al Shabaab occurred in Afgoye, about 30 km northwest of the capital Mogadishu, and targeted Turkish construction workers who were having lunch with the local police. A total of 21 people were injured in the attack.
The military plane also brought medical team and equipments for those who received minor injuries from the bomb blast.
Turkish military officials also announced that they are set to train over 10,000 Somali soldiers at camp TURKSOM in order for them to help the fight against terrorism.
