Kenyans of all walks of life have expressed their displeasure towards the action of Kenya Airways of suspending an employee who filmed the arrival of a Chinese plane.
According to KQ, the employee was suspended for filming a video of a China Southern Airlines plane at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
In the suspension letter signed by Chief Human Resource Officer Ms. Munyoki clarifies that the filming violated the provision 16.2 of the company’s HR policy manual.

Among the many kenyans who fiercely criticized KQ on social media include Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot who said the move by Mr. Ali ought to be applauded and not punished.
“As a platinum member with the SkyTeam that includes Kenya Airways, I have cancelled my ticket to Kigali because of KQ‘s conspiracy to endanger lives of 47 million Kenyans. Gire Ali is a patriot who exposed #coronavirusInkenya. He should be rewarded. Not suspended.” Aukot said on Twitter.
Former Kakamega Senator also bashed Kenya Airways for suspending Mr. Ali saying that the move was not fair.
“Suspend Mr Gire Ali? He is a mere whistle blower. Now our hero. Kenya Airways, yours is wisdom of fools.” He wrote.
Other kenyans also showed their willingness to support the suspended employee should he settle to sue KQ.
“Dear Kenyans at Large!
It is time to quit making virtual noises, & take the fight to KQ. Could the Honourable Ali Jire please DM if he is willing to sue KQ ? I will pay the full costs. Enough is Enough!” Captain. A.T.Koor wrote on Twitter.
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo jnr. Said that the suspension made by the national carrier is unconstitutional and will be reversed by any court.
He added that under Article 232 of the Constitution, the employee should have been promoted and his boss fired.
“This order will be reversed by any court. Public interest is more important than management interests,” Kilonzo jnr. Expressed in Twitter.
Through the letter, Mr. Gire Ali has been ordered to avail himself to the investigating team, his manager and any other person in authority
