Zakaria Hersi, husband to the late Activist Almas Elman who was shot dead in Halane, Mogadishu pens down an emotional message where he expressed his undying love for his late wife and prayed that the perpetrators of the heinous act be brought to book.
Zakaria wrote a touching message that clearly depicts the memories, the love he had for his late wife and how eager he was for his unborn child.
” Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un, on Wednesday I lost my love of my life, my best friend, my soul mate. I lost my wife and my unborn child. Two years ago you held my face when we got married, today I held your face when I went down in the grave with you. My heart is broken and I cry for the future we lost, but grateful for the past and the memories we had. You completed me beyond words, I pray you get the highest place in Jannah and that I will be reunited with you again. You had a life full of people who loved you but you had the biggest heart to have the capacity to love so many so deeply. Your death is unfair and unjust, there will be consequences for it and your legacy will keep going. Your family is mine and your legacy will live through us. I love you Almas forever.” Hersi wrote on his facebook account.
The post attracted many responses from people all over the world who mourned with him and sent their emotional condolences.
Others criticized the government of Somalia for failing to investigate the matter expeditiously.
” This case should not be taken lightly . The crime investigation department of Somalia should know what is going on in xalane all the time as well as putting Somalia police forces inside xalane .” reads on of the comments.
Also, the Elman and Hersi family released their first statement about the death of Almas
terming Amisom’s report as immature and hasty. The family asked for a full investigations to be conducted jointly by both Somalia and Canada authorities instead of speculations hovering in social media.
The family asks the public and those propagating fake news to let them mourn in peace.

Almas Elman was shot dead on Wednesday in Mogadishu. It is still not clear who killed Ms. Elman and why although reports from African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) revealed that she was hit by stray bullet.
