Tanga Tanga lawmakers have on Sunday evening held a meeting in Naivasha to discuss and plan their impending BBI rallies across the country.
The leaders led by Senate majority leader and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen have said their rallies are aimed at uniting Kenyans and making the consultative process more productive and open.
The lawmakers have clearly stated their BBI rallies will be conducted at their own expense and invited the other leaders including the ODM leader Raila Odinga to attend all the consultative meetings starting with Nakuru county.
Speaking on Monday, Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen said ,the leaders have agreed to support the BBI consultative process by conducting their own to ease the long process.
“We want to announce that the first rally will be held on the February 8, 2020, in Nakuru and will be followed by subsequent rallies organised by leaders and the people in all our counties,” Said Kipchumba while reading statement by Tanga Tanga leaders.
The 173 lawmakers convened at Naivasha Lodge a day after attending the 3rd BBI rally held at Mama Ngina Waterfront in Mombasa in a bid to plan ways of toning down Raila’s influence in the BBI rallies.
The lawmakers also assured Kenyans that their consultative meetings will not be held parallel to the one spearheaded by the BBI taskforce.
“There is no parallel BBI rallies, there will only be one meeting at any given time,we are enhancing the number of rallies for everybody to participate in the process”
“We invite all the leaders including the deputy president, the president and other leaders of political parties in the country including Wetang’ula, Dida, Gideon Moi Mudavadi and others,” said one of the lawmakers.
