Politics was at play during Degodia Wabar’s visit to Wajir last week as political rivals compete for influence.

Former Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has been sidelined and denied a ‘VIP seat’ in an event attended by local clan, religious and political leaders, who were all given VIP treatment, as suggested by seating arrangements.

The governor was forced to sit near Hassan Mohamed Abdi, the son of the current Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, observers saying it was a sign of disrespect.

Organizers of the event accorded him a seat, but there was an insider scheme to embarrass the former governor.

The ex-governor was seen stranded and stood amidst the mammoth of crowd for sometimes before he was accorded a seat at the backbench.

Ahmed Abdullahi was among the leaders who greatly participated in the reception of Degodia Spiritual leader Wabar Abdille when he landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi and the series of meetings that followed.
