
Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has on Wednesday 24th Dec, 2019 promoted six police officers who survived Wajir bus attack that left seven of their colleagues dead.
Mutyambai described the survivors as worriers in their own way during his visit to Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) headquarters in Gilgil.
The IG also condoled with the families of the seven gallant officers who lost their lives on the bus attack while they were on their way to their respective work stations.
“The IG condoled with the officers for the loss of six officers during the recent bus attack in Wargadud, Wajir County.” NPS wrote on their Facebook
The officers lost their lives after suspected militants waylaid the Medina bus on the evening of Friday, December 6, between Kutulo and Wargadud.
The militants separated the passengers in groups before killing all the non-locals. Among the 11 killed; 7 were police officers, one doctor and 3 other people who were returning to work.
Mutyambai commended the six police officers for the heroism they have showed and escaping successfully.
According to a statement from Administration Police , through the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), the IG promoted the six officers to the next rank.
Finally, Mr. Hillary advised the officers to forgo their Christmas celebrations and sacrifice their time to secure Kenyans and their properties during these holidays.
