
Suspected al-Shabab militants have on thursday attacked a bus heading to Mombasa County.
Lamu county Commissioner Mr. Macharia Irungu confirmed the incident saying the militants have attacked the Mombasa Raha bus, killed three passengers and wounded three others at Nyongoro area.
Unconfirmed report also revealed that a second bus, Simba Coach was attacked and it’s conductor killed.
The incident happened weeks after the Somalia’s based Al-shabaab militant killed two Special Forces officers and injured five in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack between Kutulo and Khorof- Harar, Wajir County.
Prior to that incidents , The terror group have also abducted four people who were on road construction site in Konton location, Wajir East Constituency.
Mr. Macharia Irungu also added that the transport along Lamu-Garsen road has been suspended since the attack happened and the security officers are in control of the location.
The Nyongoro area has seen numerous attacks carried out by terror groups in the past while fleeing into Boni Forest after the attacks.
