40 witnesses lined up in Cuban doctors abduction case hearing

Issack ibrahim Robow , the driver to the kidnapped Cuban doctors was on Wednesday arraigned in Mandera law court amid tight security to enable witnesses testify on what transpired on 12th April 2019 when armed Al-Shabaab gun men abducted the medics and made their way to somalia .

Mr. Robow is accused of committing terrorism, kidnapping and taking hostage, aiding and abetting terrorism, obtaining registration as a Kenyan citizen by false pretence and being in Kenya unlawfully.

The hearing which began on Wednesday afternoon continued for the second day with a police guard Ramadhan Barua to the Cuban doctors testfying on what happened during the abduction day. ” I was using Pistol ceska and I felt i was overpowered since they were armed with AK47 and i ran for my own safety ” He said

The driver, according to Mr. Barua stopped the white GK land cruiser that was carrying the medics to the Mandera General Hospital minutes after the probox carrying the assailants drove past their car.

Mr. Ahmed Sheikh another witness told the court sitting within the police station at the command centre where security meetings are held that he saw the probox by pass the land cruiser before the driver stopping instantly.

Mr. Sheikh, a tuk tuk driver told the court that four men wielding guns came out of the white probox that had packed infront of the medics vehicle shooting towards the doctor’s car.

The hearing led by Principal magistrate Martha Nazushi continues on Thursday.
