The endorsement of Adan Daud, a city lawyer is a walk over for the incumbent MP, says Wajir East residents

A section of Wajir East residents have faulted the endorsement of Adan Daud Mohamed, a renown city lawyer by his community to contest for the 2022 Parliamentary seat terming it the “biggest blunder”.

The residents taking to Facebook claimed that the community’s decision is a big boost and a walk- over for the current Wajir East legislature, Rashid Kassim.

“Congratulations to Hon Rk for the second term in Parliament,” wrote Saadia Odhiway.

“Congratulations RK for being elected second term unopposed. Masares have made the waste decision ever” Ahmed Yussuf.

“Walkover to the current MP RK” wrote Mohamed Imran,

They also questioned the decision of the Masare sultanate, a 114- powerful delegation saying that they have fronted the weakest candidate to battle it out with the current lawmaker.

“Tupatane kwa ground sasa. You could not get a stronger candidate to face us?,” Abdul Hamid Noor questioned.

The sultanate decision is believed to have been pre- determined as there were un-confirmed reports of corruption and bribery within the sultanate.

Dr. Ali Mohamed who stepped down from the race had earlier on warned the delegation to desist from anything that will compromise their dignity.

Others have also reaffirmed that a decision made by a single community will never determine who will be sitting on the mantle in as far as Wajir East parliamentary seat is concerned.

“It’s just so hard for a clan-endorsed candidate to get the backing of the cosmopolitan Wajir East. (I’m saying that from a point of experience),” Abdikadir Ukash.

“The ultimate decision will be made by the voters. The 70 dotards will not make him an MP. Wajir east has many other voters not Massare only,” Yussuf Abdi.
