The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslim(SUPKEM) has suspended its regional coordinator in charge of Eastern region.

In an urgent Executive virtual meeting called on by the national chairman on 9th, June,2021, The Committee has resolved to suspend Mr. Abdalla Mohamed (Kamana) following the announcement of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel over an alleged forgery of academic papers.

Mr. Abdalla was among the 35 applicants interested to fill the four vacant positions in the electoral body.

The committee said that they have taken the decision to safeguard the reputation and the image of the council.

In a press statement issued by the chairperson of the IEBC selection panel, Dr. Elizabeth Muli said that they have conducted a thorough background check to enquire on the suitability of the shortlisted candidates.

In regards to Mr. Abdalla Mohamed, who was the first candidate to be interviewed, the panel said that they have on 28th, June,2021 written to one of the local University to enquire on the genuinity of the degree certificate submitted by the candidate.

To their dismay, the University has distanced itself from the said candidate terming his documents as Forgery.

“This is to confirm that Abdalla Mohamed was NOT a student at Kenya Methodist University, The academic certificate BUS-1-206-05 was not issued by our University and is therefore a FORGERY,” stated the Vice Chancellor,”

The panel have affirmed that they will continue discharging their duties diligently calling upon the relevant authorities to deal with the matter in accordance with the law.
