A section of leaders from Northern Kenya have raised their concerns over the abduction of Dela Member of County Assembly (MCA) Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, calling for the safe return of the Mca and demanding the state to produce him in a court of law and charge him if he is found to have broken the law.

While addressing the media on Tuesday, leaders led by Eldas Member of parliament Adan Keynan  told the police and security agencies to carry out a thorough and urgent investigation into the abduction of the MCA and bring to book his abductors.

“Criminal responsibility is individual where an individual is suspected that individual must be subject to the rule of law and subject due process of the law” Adan Keynan stated.

The leaders also lamented that they were not privy to any ongoing investigations or any criminal offence committed by the abducted MCA.

The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) has also condemned the abduction of their colleague and demanded immediate investigation into the disappearance of Mr Yussuf.

The ward representatives, through the chairperson, Philemon Sabulei, stated that the abduction of their member has raised questions and indicated that this case isn’t isolated but rather one of many challenges faced by elected leaders in the counties.

“CAF call upon the National Police Service and relevant authorities to conduct an urgent investigation into whereabouts of Yussuf Hussein” Sabulei said.

This barely comes after the family of the Mca filed a case at the Milimani Law Court involving the disappearance of Yussuf Hussein as they ask the Court to compell the Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to produce him in court.

The family, through their advocates, says that Mr. Yussuf has been missing from South B Estate since the night of September 13, 2024, and his whereabouts and reason for his abduction still remain unknown to his family, friends’, colleagues, and his constituents.

The matter has since been reported by the family at DCI, Makadara Police Station under the OB 86/13/09/2024 for investigation to ascertain his  whereabouts.

Mr Hussein who is also knownas “Tolfiyow,” was intercepted and forcefully taken away by unknown people near Enterprise Road in Nairobi area by two unmarked Toyota Prados on Friday night 13th September at around 9pm while he was in a taxi headed towards South C.

In the ensuing chaos, the abductors also seized the taxi driver’s phone to obstruct any immediate communication.

Fortunately,  his phone, which accidentally fell inside the taxi, was later recovered by the driver. The taxi driver, unaware of the true identity of his passenger, promptly reported the worrying incident to the Industrial Area Police Station, setting in motion an investigation.
