Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi has told off Mandera Governor Ali Ibrahim Roba over his recent comments on the deteriorating security in Northern Kenya and particularly in Mandera county.
Roba has last week raised concerns over the presence of Al-Shahab in Mandera which he said was getting bolder and more aggressive by the day, he also claimed that it controls 60% of Mandera county.
Speaking during a security meeting with a section of leaders from Pastrol communities , the CS said that the government has made a lot of efforts in the war against terror.
“….If you look at the investment we have made as a Government in Northern part of the country and in the war against terror, it speaks for itself,” said Matiangi
The CS has said that he will adress the Governor’s utterances blow by blow warning leaders against making such dishonest allegations.
Matiangi has further downplayed the scale that the terror group controls a greater percentage of Mandera county saying that there are few cases but not to the level insinuated by the Governor.
The CS said the matter will be dealt amicably in an incoming Security meeting with Northern leaders in Garisaa county.
